The challenges facing modern busy mums are significant and it can be hard to keep up. When things get tough, good mums just need to stay focused and remember that they can handle anything that comes their way. Talking to veteran mums can be a great source of support and advice for sorting through even the stickiest situations.

One thing that all mums can agree on is the importance of not spoiling their children. There are parents who think they should indulge every wish their child has as long as they can afford to do so. It is true that this practice may keep a child happy for the time being and busy mums can be tempted to give in so that they can move on. This does not do anyone any favors over time because children can develop entitlement issues and throw temper tantrums as soon as someone tells them “no.”

A working mum who also focuses on raising a healthy family will not have hours to spend cooking dinner every night. However, that is no excuse for the nutrition of her family to suffer. Most simple meals can be made healthier, such as using wheat pasta to make spaghetti and meatballs. Baking sweet deserts is time consuming an unhealthy, but a fruit salad is both simple and healthy.

All parents want to spend time playing with their children, but play often falls by the wayside when it comes time to focus on education. A good mum can combine the two by playing games with her children that are both educational and fun. There are many electronic read aloud books that help children practice phonics while enjoying a story with their mum. It is also possible to adapt games and make them educational, such as playing “I Spy” and having children spell what they see.

Being a mum is a difficult enough task without also worrying about being a good wife. Sometimes couples feel like the spark leaves their relationship after children enter the picture, but that only happens if they allow it to. Even the most loving parents need to have time for themselves once in awhile. It is perfectly fine to let the children spend the evening with their grandparents while mum and dad rekindle that old flame.

After being a great mum and a wonderful wife, it is important for a woman to take the occasional moment to herself. Putting one hundred percent of her energy into others all the time will cause any mum to burn out eventually. Every now and then, it is okay for the kids to stay with dad while mum goes out and gets a manicure or has lunch with her girlfriends.

Today’s fast paced world creates unique challenges for modern busy mums. However, good mums know that they can accomplish anything they set their minds to by staying balanced and focused. Organization and patience make it possible for any woman to be the perfect mum and wife.

While choosing the right Teen Summer Camps may be more complicated than selecting a general interest camp for a younger child, the rewards can be even richer. A teenager is in the midst of an incredible growth spurt. There is a literal physical change that you may see when your teen arrives home, but equally important are the emotional, spiritual, intellectual, and social changes that a challenging summer program can produce in a child in this age group.

Although finding the right summer program for teens is different than finding a program for a nine year old, some of the basics are the same: you still want a safe, secure, and appropriate environment. However, teenagers need and are ready for new challenges and greater independence. As your child matures, you may find that you need to reexamine your choice each year as his interests expand.

Remeber, interests, and abilities of a 13 year-old are quite different from that of a 17 year-old. So, when thinking programs, you should always keep in mind your child’s maturity. Supervision in many of the programs designed for teens is less than for younger children, so be sure to ask. One great resource is Summer Camp Advice, a free website that offers all sorts of information on how to select a summer camp.

As you know a teenager is part kid and part adult. So planning way in advance may be difficult. Yet, good programs may fill-up fast. Early registration will give you the widest range of selection.

It’s best to start your search for a Teen Summer Program is to sit down and talk with your child. Often this time together can strengthen your relationship with your teen. Help him or her figure out their interests, concerns, and values. You need to talk with your teen about what each of you want the summer to be. However, be ready to hear that they “don’t want to do anything.”

Many teen programs exist its important to try to find the best one. Sometimes you have to really look hard to find the right answer. The internet is a very useful tool for this. It is helpful to know the kind of program you are looking for: sports, serving, traveling, adventure or a little bit of each.

Sometimes the best way to meet each of your goals is to piece together the summer with activities from both of your lists. This is time consuming and difficult your teen will get a broader experience for the additional effort.

Rules for the Summer are extra important If you decide that your teenager doing local programs for the summer. Expectation, chores, and schedules need to be laid out in advance. This will be especially important if this will be the first summer in years that your youngster is spending at home.

A suggestion is to look at Swift Nature Camp for your Teen next summer.

Spring sports are quickly approaching but are you ready? How many times have you arrived at your kids sport to find out you’ve forgotten something? Yes, we are all quilty! Below you will find a fool proof check list to make sure you have everything your kids need. Lets face it, getting the kids out the door is hard work and a little preparation will greatly reduce the stress!

Here are 5 quick tips to keep you organized! All you need to start is a BIG travel bag.

1. SPORTS EQUIPMENT- every sport requires some sort of equipment- Do you have it? Soccer players need shin guards, socks, jersey and a ball. Baseball players need their bats and gloves. Make sure your travel bag has the equipment your child needs.

2. CHAIRS AND BLANKET- if your child plays an outdoor sport you often will find that their is limited seating. Be sure to bring you own chairs. Keep them in the trunk so you are ready at a moments notice. If you have limited space or hands a waterproof blanket is an excellent addition to your travel bag.

3. SNACKS- How often do you arrive at your kids sport only to hear, “I’m hungry!”. Pack a few healthy snacks and several bottles of water in your travel bag. Save yourself from spending your time and money at the consession stand.

4. FIRST AID KIT- Be prepared for the unexpected! When ever there is running and jumping their is going to be an accident. I include band aids, hand sanitizer, first aid ointment, sunscreen and an instant ice pack in my kids sport bag.

5. WARM CLOTHES- Spring is a funny season. One day its 70 and the next its 40. Be prepared for anything! Always carry an extra jacket or sweatshirt for your athlete. They may be warm when their running but when they are sitting they might want your jacket!
